Global Oil Resources
13-06-2010
A good article in today's UK Independent newspaper draws attention to what we've been saying on this site for quite some time now. The unravelling of globalisation is a process that's already underway and is bound to lead to greater competition for resources like oil as production peaks and then declines, in a process exacerbated by the industrialisation of China and India. The sourcing of products then becomes a more strategic issue as access to oil for manufacturing industry, plastics, farming and so on becomes more essential for competing nations, who also need to access the world container transport system to export finished goods (and which is in itself a huge consumer of oil).
